Captains' Views

🔶 Pat Cummins (SRH Captain) 🧡

We’re going to have a bowl first. Playing in Chennai is always a big deal. We’re coming off a couple of losses but the boys are fired up. If the pitch is good, we back our batters to get a big score, and if it's tricky, we back them to adapt. The pitch looks a bit dry.

🟡 MS Dhoni (CSK Captain) 💛

We also wanted to bowl first because of the dew factor. When you're not playing your best cricket, pressure tends to fall on others too. We’re focusing on the process and taking one game at a time. We have made two changes – Rachin and Vijay Shankar out, Brevis and Hooda come in.

🧱 Pitch Report:

The ground dimensions today read 70 metres on one side, 63 metres on the other, and 74 metres straight down the ground. The surface appears quite dry and looks very similar to what we've seen in past matches here. Expect it to play a little slow, with a hint of two-paced bounce.

This is the kind of pitch where bowlers who vary their pace will be highly effective. Expect to see some grip and spin as well, especially in the second innings. It might just turn out to be a tricky surface for batting, especially against smart spinners and slower balls
