Venue: Harare Sports Club, Harare
Info:
- Zimbabwe (ZIM) are all set to host Ireland (IRE) in the second T20I of the three-match series, at the renowned Harare Sports Club, in Harare, on Sunday, February 23.
- The first T20I between the African nation and the European side ended without a result due to incessant rain. After a two-hour delay, the game was shortened to nine overs per side. Ireland, opting to bowl first, made early breakthroughs as Craig Young dismissed Brian Bennett and captain Sikandar Raza in the second over. The Chevrons were struggling at 11/3 in three overs, but Ryan Burl, smashed 36 off 18 balls, including two fours and three sixes. Tashinga Musekiwa (10*) and Wessly Madhevere (11*) contributed valuable runs as Zimbabwe posted 77/5 in nine overs.
- Josh Little and Young claimed two wickets each, while Graham Hume picked up a sole wicket. As Ireland were looking to start their run chase, the rain played spoilsport and the match was abandoned. Both teams will now focus on the second T20I, which is scheduled for the next day at the same venue, though the weather forecast remains concerning.

Team NEWS:
ZIM Team News:
- All-rounder Sikandar Raza adds reliability to the team, Raza, struck 2148 runs and bagged 69 wickets in 97 T20I matches. He, in particular, has been in excellent form, averaging 40 against Ireland in T20Is, making him a key figure in the middle overs.
- After excellent performances in ODI series, Brian Bennett will now aim to take that form with the bat into these T20is. Bennett has scores of 169, 30, and 48 in the first, second, and third games respectively. Whilst the change in format represents a risk, Bennett has earnt a level of trust and warrants a stake here to accrue 20+ runs.
IRE Team News:
- The experienced Paul Stirling is known for being a big-hitter at the top and the ground at Harare is a perfect ground for a player of his caliber. He has scored 3655 runs in 146 T20I innings, with a highest score of 115 runs. Hence, the Irish captain will certainly be the player to watch out for in the T20I series opener.
- Joshua Little has been one of the top performers for Ireland in the T20 format and is the third-highest wicket-taker for the team. His skiddy pace and bounce will be effective on the ground at Harare. He also can bowl in the tough overs of the game as well and take wickets with the new ball.
