 Match:  MI Cape Town vs Sunrisers Eastern Cape
 Time:   29 January, 09:00 PM (IST)

 Series:: SA20 League 2025
 Venue:   Newlands, Cape Town

 Info:

  • Match 25 of the SA20 2025 will be played between MI Cape Town (MICT) and Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC), at the renowned venue of Newlands, in Cape Town. Both franchises will clash on Wednesday, January 29.
  • Leading up to this game, the two sides have won four games each. Cape Town and Eastern Cape played each other in the first game this season, with the former emerging victorious by 97 runs. Now as far as MIE are concerned, they are placed in the second spot on the SA20 points table with 21 points to their name. The side has won four games out of the seven games they have played in the season so far. Notably, out of the 21 points, three points were earned as bonus points. While they have ended up on the losing side twice.
  • On the other hand, the Eastern Cape led by Aiden Markram, started rather drastically by losing three games on the trot at the beginning of the SA20 2025 season. However, they seemingly found their rhythm and got back to their winning ways by winning the next four games, before Joburg Super Kings derailed their winning streak. Tristan Stubbs and David Bedingham were the stars of that match for the team for a losing cause. Given that MIE will be playing at their home and their recent form, they are likely to dominate the upcoming match of the SA20.

 Weather & Pitch Report
 Weather:
 the weather is expected to remain cloudy during the entire scheduled match time in Cape Town. The temperature will likely range between 21° and 22° during the game. While there is a slight possibility of mild rainfall in the second innings of the match, the forecast indicates that it will not be threatening enough to disrupt the proceedings..

 Pitch: 🏟️
The surface at the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town seems to be providing excellent batting conditions off late. The average first innings total at the venue after three matches has amounted to 164. While spinners struggled a bit on the surface earlier in the tournament, Rashid Khan and Keshav Maharaj both managed to extract significant turn and bounce in the previous match hosted here last week. There will also be a hint of seam movement for the fast bowlers earlier in the innings with the new ball.

 Team NEWS:

 MICT Team News:
  • The MI Cape Town team, under the leadership of Rashid Khan, has secured four wins this SA20 2025 season at an expense of just two defeats from seven matches (one no-result). The Cape Town has accumulated 21 points so far this tournament and they are currently occupying the number two spot on the SA20 2025 points table with a formidable NRR of 1.837. They started off their campaign with an emphatic 97-run win over Sunrisers in the opening match of the competition. Rashid Khan and co. have also won each of their previous two games with convincing margins to jump to the playoffs reckoning. Senior man Rassie van der Dussen continues to remain MI Cape Town’s most prolific run-maker off late alongside Ryan Rickelton. The team’s bowling composite, however, has struggled to come up with a collective performance.

 SEC Team News:
  • The Sunrisers Eastern Cape franchise started off its title-defense with three humiliating defeats upfront this SA20 2025 season. However, under the leadership of Aiden Markram, the Sunrisers rebooted its campaign with four successive NRR boosting wins, before falling short against Joburg Super Kings a couple of days ago. At the moment, the Sunrisers’ NRR reads a topsy-turvy -0.143 as they have garnered 19 points from eight matches. Barring Markram, and all-rounder Marco Jansen to some extent, other batters have struggled to come up clutch for the Sunrisers off late. Their bowling attack, on the other hand, continues to thrive with the prolific wicket-taking spree of Jansen, Richard Gleeson, Liam Dawson and Ottneil Baartman.
